The primary basis used in selecting or promoting an employee is the assessed ability of the person to perform the necessary work. Factors to be assessed include the person’s skill and knowledge, past records of achievement and suitability.
In all cases, selection and promotion decisions are made without discrimination as to a person’s race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, age, sex, marital status, family status, disability, pardoned conviction, sexual orientation, or religious or philosophical beliefs.
